Winchester 1876 NWMP SRC .45-75 s/n 44449 mfg 1884 - 22” round barrel; correct NWMP rear sight; dense straight grain walnut stocks. Receiver retains 80% coverage of a thinning original blue finish turning plum with heavier blue in protected areas; hammer and lever retain muted case colors with silver and brown mixing in; barrel has a thinning blue turning a modeled patina; strong and correct original NWMP cartouche is visible on right side of buttstock; stocks are sound retaining a high degree of their original varnish finish, and have seen honest frontier use with some minor dings, dents and mars but are generally in excellent condition by NWMP carbine standards; action is excellent; bore retains strong rifling and some salt and pepper pitting as expected with black powder rounds. Includes a Winchester factory letter of authentication from the Cody Firearms Museum indicating this carbine was included in order number 19819 along with 405 other carbines shipped to the NWMP. It is seldom that we know anything about collector arms. Colorful NWMP history makes this a rare and historic Winchester carbine. |
